About Us:

We are the Thorn family! We love adventure, surfing, and exploring by campervan and boat. We moved to South Florida in 2016 and have been spending all our free time ‘staycationing’ in the great state of Florida. From north to south; east to west; we’ve explored our beautiful state and want to share the best spots to camp, dine and surf with you.

This didn’t happen overnight (or even after 2020 when everyone decided having a van was cool)…our campervan story started way back in the 1970’s in England. Paradise Campervans builder and owner, Russell, was just a little chap (sporting his newsboy hat and dungarees) toddling about on the southwest corner of a breathtaking piece of rock called Cornwall. Cornwall is the surfing capital of England boasting pumping waves, whipping wind, freezing rain, pasties and cream teas.

Russell was raised by a surfing dad, Ray, who took his family down to Cornwall every summer with the hope of scoring good waves. Ray discovered early on that the VW van was the most economical way to go on a surf trip with a wife and kids. He became notorious for converting the VW into the perfect surfmobile; all while little Russell watched and picked up the hammer to help. The legacy of campervan building was planted and Russell was now on his own journey to build that perfect surf wagon…

With numerous van conversions under Russell’s belt in England – he decided it was time to bring the English campervan building expertise to America (plus he married a smokin’ hot babe from the USA!)

Whitney and Russell, along with their three children, are passionate about spending time together as a family; continuing the campervan legacy Russell’s dad began; and maximizing their time surfing and exploring. They are excited to share the same experience with you through campervan rentals based out of South Florida!
